Course Description
Course is well marked with pink flagging tape and signs. Marshals will be present at key spots.
From the start at the Derelict Building, follow the pink flagging tape and arrows and “walker” signs up the hill and under the fence to meet the Mt Ida Water Race. Once on the water race, turn right and stay on the water race for about 5km until you reach the aid station at the West Eweburn Dam.
Walk along the shore of the West Eweburn Dam and follow flagging tape and signage to the Silver Birch Forest. Following the forest you will cross a boundary fence and then follow the pink markers along a sheep track to climb Jeffery’s Hill onto Long Ridge.
At the top of Long Ridge you will join a 4WD track that takes you to the high point of the course (906m) and another aid station.
After enjoying the scenery at the high point keep following the 4WD along the tops, down the hill and back to the finish at the Derelict Building.
Then hop back into your cars and drive to the Wedderburn Cottages woolshed to enjoy the BBQ and the atmosphere at the human vs horse race finish.
